Metabolic Disorders

Metabolism is the body’s ability to breakdown foodstuffs to use as fuel.  Anyone currently suffering from metabolic disorders or those hoping to avoid these negative consequences of physical inactivity and poor nutrition are urged by physicians and other health professionals to incorporate a regular exercise program into their daily life.  Both cardiovascular and resistance exercise programs have been proven to improve the body’s ability to use substances such as insulin, glucose, fat, protein and carbohydrate, enabling the body to function properly.  The probability of acquiring conditions such as obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and the disorders that result from them can be significantly decreased with the addition of a regular exercise program into one’s daily regimen.

Diabetes/Pre-Diabetes

According to a study done by the Center of Disease Control, one in four Americans are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.  Resulting from poor diet and inactivity, type 2 diabetes increases the risk of developing numerous other medical conditions. Obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and limb amputation are all consequences of developing this disease.  Fortunately, incorporating a regular exercise program of both resistance and aerobic exercise in combination of being more conscious of the quality and quantity of food you consume has been proven to decrease the potential of developing this disease or any of the other conditions associated with type 2 diabetes.  At Physical Fitness, we feel it is our job to promote overall wellness in the form of aerobic and resistance exercise as well as proper nutrition, to ensure that all of our clients escape these negative consequences of life without wellness.
